This course is not far from the Metropolitan region of Munich, but it sure feels different. Only small roads lead to the course and the town itself consists of nothing more than a castle and a brewery. So the two 9 hole loops could be carved pretty freely out of the woods with seemingly very few obstacles dictating where the golf holes could go. However, for some reason it was still not possible to connect the 6th hole, but other than that the flow is fine. Which, together with the peaceful atmosphere, is also the main selling point.

As far as the hole designs themselves go, they are variable enough for about two thirds of the layout, but then a few repetetive elements creep in. One is that too many of the par 4s are defended with a cross-ditch or a large pond in front of the green. Not only does the ground game lose out that way, it also takes away options from average hitters, who have to lay up more often than not. Another avoidable repetition is that the par 3s are not very diversified in terms of length and shot selection. This includes the island green 11th, which might feel a bit different, but at the end of the day it's mainly optical.

The soil is rather soft, so this is strictly a good weather course, but then it's nice enough. The main difficulty aside from the length are the greens. They are very hard to read and micro undulations can wreak havoc on even the shortest of putts. So overall this is actually a pretty challenging layout without any pushover holes, but also not tricked up beyond reason. Undulations are present, but despite some distant Alpine views this is not a mountain course by any means. For the most part it is parkland with only a few tree-lined holes, so it is definitely possible to have a good time here on a relaxed, sunny afternoon.
