Sits on the same site as Saunton East and enjoys many of the same characteristics. However, it is a course in its own right and can be even more difficult in trying conditions. The holes are not only a tad shorter, they are also narrower and feature more undulations.
Maintenance standards may be a smidgen below the East and the par configurations are somewhat unusual, so the West is generally a rougher and quirkier experience. It also plays closer to the sea and the large dunes bordering it. Other than that it is just as good a test as the East and makes for a world class round of golf anytime.
