The Championship course is the main attraction of a very ambitious 45 hole project that acts as a buffer between a residential development of almost 25000 housing units and the Autobahn. The entire concept includes a Putt and Chip Course, a Pitching Course and an 18 hole executive track, through which beginning golfers are meant to progress on their way to handicapped competitions on the main course. This concept is certainly laudable; not many clubs would sacrifice prime real estate for beginners.
Unfortunately this chipping away at the perimeters of the Championship course has also led to a pair of unpleasant connector walks along the Autobahn wall. To add insult to injury, both walks are negotiated twice, once in each direction. It's probably tough to come up with a more awkward way to piece together three distinct parcels of land.
It's a very open property with few trees, so in most places there are views over large parts of the property and into the residential area beyond. The holes themselves are more or less standard fare with the exception of the greens. They are all large and heavily undulated, which adds replay interest and makes many holes play a notch or two tougher. Conditioning is fine, so it's mostly the uninspired setting and the dreadful walks that drag the venue down. On a positive note, the off-course amenities are first-class and costs are duly kept in check.
