Playing around a real medieval castle has its virtues, especially with such a fun-filled layout. The front 9 are situated in the shadow of the castle, whereas the back 9 play mostly on a higher plateau behind it. Unfortunately there is some autobahn noise, but only in a few spots.
Holes 9 and 18 are semi-island greens in front of the clubhouse terrace and therefore unquestionably the signature holes. Other than that the course flows very naturally and exhibits Zen-like qualities in its restraint. It is one of Donald Harradine's last designs and practically radiates the serenity of old age. That being said, there is at least one unusual feature on every hole.
Incidentally, the castle is not open to the public, but there is another one around the corner in Satzvey, which is well worth visiting.
