A relatively open parkland course routed over the rolling hills of the Eifel region. The golfing season is a bit shorter here due to the site's elevation and the general harshness of the winters. It's quite a rural setting and would make for a short, quirky track, considering the terrain. But the plan here was for a championship course and that leads to a good amount of walking from tee to green and on to the next tee as well.
Despite the interesting site there is not enough variability in the layout. The par 3s are all long, the par 5s play almost identical due to very similar lengths and there are only two shortish par 4s. It's not a bad course, the views are nice and the conditioning is fine. But it is lacking in the categories of surprise, remarkable hole designs and ground game options.
